MJK Stairs is a Melbourne-based staircase construction business specialising in custom residential and commercial stair projects.
With extensive experience in carpentry and structural stair construction, we work closely with builders, developers and homeowners to deliver high-quality staircases built for durability, safety and architectural impact.
Our work includes feature staircases, cantilever stairs, curved staircases, external stairs and balustrade installations across Melbourne.
Our Story
MJK Stairs evolved from MJK Carpentry and Construction as the business specialised in staircase construction.
The business was originally established as MJK Carpentry and Construction in 2021, delivering a broad range of carpentry services.
In 2023 the business relocated from Phillip Island to Caroline Springs, expanding its operations across Melbourne.
As the business continued to grow, we recognised a strong demand for high-quality staircase construction. In 2024 the business evolved to specialise exclusively in staircase construction, focusing on feature staircases, cantilever designs, curved staircases and architectural stair projects.
Today, MJK Stairs works with builders, developers and homeowners across Melbourne delivering staircases built for durability, safety and architectural impact.
Martin Kennedy — Owner / Staircase Builder
Martin is the founder of MJK Stairs and brings extensive experience in carpentry and staircase construction.
He commenced his stair building apprenticeship in 2006 and became a fully qualified tradesman in 2010, developing strong expertise in the construction and installation of custom staircases.
With many years of experience in the trade, Martin specialises in the construction of feature staircases, curved staircases and complex stair projects. His focus on precision, durability and clean architectural finishes ensures each staircase is built to a high standard.
Ani Ottow — Operations & Administration
Ani manages the operational side of MJK Stairs, including client communication, project coordination and business operations.
With a background in mining and civil construction administration and project management, Ani brings strong organisational and coordination experience to the business. She works closely with builders, suppliers and clients to ensure projects run smoothly from initial enquiry through to completion.
Her focus is on maintaining clear communication, efficient administration and a high level of service throughout every project.
